Here is a quick overview of other high school musicals in and around the Pittsburgh area.

 

Winchester-Thurston

Musical: Urinetown

Plot: A satire of the absurdity of bureaucracy in small-town America.

Dates: April 27-29

Winchester won best overall musical in the low budget category for the 2006 Gene Kelly awards for their production of “Hello Dolly”.

Schenely

Musical: Leader of the Pack

Plot: The story of famous songwriter Ellie Greenwich during the 1960s and 70s.

Dates: April 26-28, May 3-5

Schenely’s production of “The Melody Lingers On” was nominated in ten categories for the 2006 Gene Kelly awards.  On awards night, Schenely claimed nine of the ten possible awards, including best musical its budget category.

CAPA

Musical: The Secret Garden

Plot: Secret Garden is the story of a young girl living in India in 1911, who is forced to move to England due to the death of her parents.

Dates: April 26 – May 6

CAPA will surely put on an amazing show demonstrating the school’s focus on the performing arts.

Woodland Hills

Musical: Les Miserables

Plot:  The musical follows the lives of various French citizens from all walks of life during the French Revolution.

Dates: April 20-28

Woodland Hills’ actress Brittany Taylor was awarded best actress in the 2006 Gene Kelly Awards for her role in “Evita”.
